Cute Santa Penguin Christmas Nail Manicure

Last year I gave my first try at penguin nails. They were cute, then, but now that I've tweaked the colors and added a few accessories, I think I'm in love! These cute little guys with little santa hats are the most adorably festive manicure ever! They're relatively simple to do, too.... always a nice thing. If you'd like to give them a whirl, check out the tutorial.

DIY Studded Shoes

Wow, there are a ton of studded things out there today! Everything from shoes, to shirts, to purses and jewelry. Right now, we're going to talk about shoes! One of my absolute favorite subjects.

Somehow, I've completely missed out on this trend. I don't own a single pair of studded shoes! Not only that, but I don't own a pair of cap-toed shoes either. What kind of shoe lover am I!? A broke one, that's what kind. Sooooo, What does a broke shoe lover who wants to be on trend do?
 DIY it!

This was a surprisingly simple and inexpensive thing to do. Really, once I got the hang of it, it went pretty quickly. I mean, they were ready to wear by the next day! The entire project (not including an old pair of shoes) was only about $6. I'm so happy to say, that I've fallen back in love with a favorite pair.

If you would like to learn how to fall back in love with an old pair, or freshen up new ones you picked up at the thrift store, watch the tutorial and get crafting! Being this trendy hasn't been so fun (and inexpensive) in quite some time...

What you'll need:
• Embellishments
• Fabric glue (I used one by mod podge specifically made for embellishing fabrics)
• a pair of shoes
• Wirecutters, if your embellishments have anything sticking off the back like mine did (I used brads)
• Q-tips and water for cleanup

So, basically what you do is put down some glue, and place your studs/spangles/gems wherever you want. Follow the glue manufacturer's directions (mine was a full 24 dry period) and you're good to go!
The best part about the glue I used, is that not only does it dry clear, but it is waterproof and remains flexible.

Go ahead, and experiment. I'd love to see what you come up with. If you'd like, feel free to leave a video response on my youtube account, or tag my IG* account so I can see photos of your creations! Happy refashioning!

Love always,

Exfoliate Those Smackers

Exfoliating your lips is a must for some people like me! It's just as important as any other skin, but for some reason, we rarely think about it. Adding this step into your nightly routine is super simple, and will make your lips look and feel pillowy soft.

Exfoliating your lips not only removes the dead, chapped skin on the surface, but it stimulates blood circulation and new cell growth. It smooths and softens the lips surface, and when followed by an amazing moisturizer, they become more kissable, and product is easier to apply. What's not to love?

There are several great lip scrubs available. SUGAR makes a delicious scrub($22). Mary Kay Satin Lip Set ($18) is also a nice option. This set comes with both an exfoliator and a moisturizer. Both are critical steps in lip care.

I've created my own lip scrub by combining a old standby, Chapstick, with a kitchen staple; sugar. The resulting scrub is not only moisturizing and effective, but it's also utterly delectable.!

Mix equal parts until thoroughly combined and place in a small jar for regular use. Ta-da! Your very own lip scrub! Don't forget to add a cute label.

Take a small amount and rub it all over your lips. If your lips are extra chapped, use your toothbrush and lightly scrub in small circular motions. When you are finished, wipe those lippies clean of any remaining sugar particles and use your lip balm to seal in the moisture.
Your lips are now as soft as the day you were born. Keep this up a few tines a week, and they'll be sure to stay that way.

Love always,

Clean... A Fresh Scent

Hi all. Today I'm going to talk about one of my favorite things: perfume. I love smelling pretty. Doesn't every girl? (Hopefully one day we'll bring the gentlemen over to our side.) Anywho... I tend to like a wide variety of smells: florals, musks, and especially crisp scents.

The scent I'm talking about today is the most aptly named lines of perfumes I think I've ever come across. CLEAN. That they are. There are several smells to choose from: Skin, Shower Fresh, and Warm Cotton are just a few of their in-depth line. Today, I'm going to focus on the one I wear quite frequently, Warm Cotton.

This scent smells just like fresh sheets that have been pulled out of the dryer. Something very crisp and welcoming; it just smells plain clean. Anytime I want to have a scent on that is absolutely in no way offensive, this is my most reached for. Who doesn't like fresh laundry? It is an absolute must for my gym bag... specifically when I'm rushing and don't have time to wash my hair. (TMI, I know.) It's even great to lightly spritz on your bedding when you want a quick refresher.

CLEAN describes Warm Cotton as having top notes of citrus layered with lilac and jasmine (two of my favorite flowers) wrapped up with a subtle blend of musk and amber. I have a hard time discerning each individual smell. I can tell there is a bit of lilac, and it definitely ends in a very subtle musk that lends a warmth to the smell. All in all, it just makes me think of warm sweaters and towels coming out of the dryer on a crisp fall day; something I'd want to completely wrap myself in. It's one of those scents, that when used with a light hand, doesn't smell like you're wearing anything. It just seems like you are radiating a freshness, that blends into your skin and clothes.

Scent: 8/10 This is a nice clean, crisp smell that will suit anyone who likes fresh laundry. It is mild enough to be worn to work, and can be a great pick-me-up. It is a highly concentrated scent, so spray lightly.
Longevity: 9/10 This scent holds up to long hours. As it fades, it sinks into your clothing and acts much like a fabric freshener sheet would.
Packaging: 10/10 I LOVE how these look. They are crisp and clean, just like the perfume they house. They are also available in two sizes (1 oz, and 2.14 oz) which is especially handy for traveling, or just testing out a new scent. The glass bottles feel rich, and the mister pump creates a fine spray.
Overall9/10

Where to buy: CLEAN  $38 / 1oz,  $69 / 2.14oz

I think the next CLEAN I'll invest in will be Warm T-Shirt... it reminds my of my boyfriends laundry... I'm not exactly sure why it smells more like his, considering our clothes go in the wash at the same time, but it has that little extra cuddliness that comes with stealing a shirt from your guy.

Revlon Lip Butters Rave

L to R: Strawberry Shortcake, Lollipop,
Berry Smoothie, Candy Apple
Hi all! In an attempt to bring you more posts, I've finally come the the obvious conclusion that I needed to expand my blogging subject matter. Sooooo, I've decided to expand to more of a lifestyle overview. You know, food, fashion, beauty: all the fun things in life.
So, without further adiue, my first beauty rave:

Meet the Revlon Lip Butters. These little babies are a godsend. I am absolutely smitten. I know. I know. I'm late to the game... actually, I fell in love with these when they first came out. I just hadn't decided to take the leap into beauty/lifestyle blogging. I thought it was appropriate for these to be one of my first reviews/raves simply because I love them so so so much.

Revlon calls these beauties "buttery balm" with "shiny color" and claim that "94% of women felts lips were softer, smother, and instantly hydrated." I find myself to be one of those 94%. Even though these are packaged like lipsticks, they fall in the wonderful category of balms. They are luxuriously hydrating and smooth, with a nice, light pop of color to freshen up your look. These are extremely wearable, as the color is soft, but buildable. I've noticed that some of the more vibrant colors even leave a nice soft stain on the lips after the gloss has worn away.

When I first started coveting these gems, there were 12 shades to choose from. Luckily (I'm sure thanks to their amazing rave reviews) there are now an
amazing 20 colors to choose from. Yippee! This just means I get to keep expanding my collection! Today, I have 4 of the original colors to share with you. I have swatched them both on my hand, and lips to help give an idea of how they wear.

Candy Apple (Built Up)
Bare lips for comparison
Pigmentation: 9/10 Sheer, but nicely buildable.
Texture: 8.5/10 I adore how slick and smooth this butter is, but it may be too slick for some.
Longevity: 7/10 Because it is so soft, it does fade rather quickly, as do many butters/balms, however, the brighter shades do tend to leave a nice subtle shade.
Application6/10 These go on quite smoothly, but a light touch is required, as these are quite soft and tend to squish easily.
Packaging: 7.5/10 I LOVE how these look. They are color coded, and even have clear windows at the top to easily identify which is which. However, they are not the most practical. It is very nice not having to dip your finger in a jar (not to mention way more sanitary) but these are so soft, they tend to get pressed flat back into the tube... or off to the side.
Overall7.6/10 I adore these for what they are: comfortable lipsticks to throw on and keep in my purse throughout the day. They are easy to wear, but are not bulletproof, and will not stick to your face all day long: remember to bring it with you. If you are the kind of girl who likes things that are easy to wear, and feel great, these are for you.
